Daniele Buetti

These mesmerising light box artworks are by Swiss artist, Daniele Buetti. He works with visual media, as seen here, piercing questions, words and perforations on images of models, with the lights from fluorescent tubes shining through them to perhaps draw attention to the role of media in today's society and its altering effect of our perceptions, predominantly what we consider beauty. There is a bittersweetness to these works with the beauty of the glowing lights contrasted against the serious looks on the models.
On the other hand, Buetti cleverly utilises this notion of the influence of media by having these models as a form of aesthetically pleasing advertising to make his own 'glowing' questions and remarks speak out and stand out.
